About the Board:

The KBYWB is a volunteer led organization made up of people who care about traveling and sharing cultural experience with our students of Klamath Falls. The KBYWB Board of Directors provides oversight and counsel on planning and policy development, financial oversight and resource development, as well as all organization activities.

What does it mean to lead KBYWB? KBYWB is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization representing and promoting cultural arts & education, wellbeing, and travel for students across Klamath County. The board is made up of 5-10 members who believe in the mission and making a positive change in the lives of students living in the Klamath community.

Terms of Office: Members of the Board of Directors are elected on an annual basis.

Meetings: Board members meet a minimum of one a month, with outreach, fundraising, or committee led events happening on occasions.

Board Requirements: Board members are expected to be an active participant (typical time commitment of 2-5 hours per month). Board members may be responsible for outside project work in support of committees, fundraising, or outreach within the community. Board members are welcome from any backgrounds to join our mission. Applications are encouraged from Klamath County and will be considered in other geographical areas.

Skills and Interests: Although general interest and support of the work of KBYWB is the primary criteria for selection of Board members, KBYWB also seeks Board members who demonstrate the following skills and interests:

• Communications – expertise in developing and executing social media and other communications strategies

• Public Policy – experience and skills in advocating for public resources in support of national service programming

• Finance/Administration – individuals with experience in budgeting, accounting, and financial management

• Resource Development – demonstrated experience in fundraising, including event planning and/or success securing private grants in support of associations

• Legal – expertise working with federal agencies on reform agendas and/or streamlining of regulations

Give/Get: The KBYWB Board of Directors commit to contribute to the organization annually in the following ways:

  • raising contributions through personal donations of at least $25.

  • fundraising activities of at least $100.

An optional commitment made by board members include:

  • In-Kind donations made towards administrative operation funds.

  • Personal contributions include checks, cash, or electronic donations made directly to the organization.

  • Fundraising Activities include organizing, planning, and implementing fundraisers where funds are directed towards the organization.

  • In-Kind donations are those which align with the organization's annual operating budget and can help drive the mission forward.

Contributions can be broken down by the month, and can be made in portions. All contributions must be made by the annual board meeting. All members are expected to participate in fundraising activities set forth for the organization.
